The Jarrot Mansion is located in Cahokia Illinois in St Clair County. The Mansion is an Illinois State Historic Site and is a National Historic Landmark. Built in 1807 out of brick, it is one of the oldest masonry buildings in Illinois. It was built as the home of Nicholas Jarrot, a French entrepreneur and land speculator, and is unique in that it is built in the American Federal architectural style rather than the French Colonial style found throughout the area. The Jarrot Mansion is in the process of being renovated and is only open for special events. Check their website for dates and times.
